Turning the linear circular

Purple is the simultaneous perception of blue and red electromagnetic radiation, not to be confused with Violet which is its own wavelength nearer to the ultraviolet end of the spectrum. Purple is in a way an illusion and it makes an unexpectedly useful circle (color wheel) out of our linear perceivable spectrum. If that's not an example of circular thinking synthesizing the macro and the micro, I don't know what is.

  1. A. I've been talking about this with everyone I know recently. Interestingly, psych studies also show that purple is perhaps the most "divisive" color in that people usually HATE or LOVE it.

    B. Purple used to be identified with royalty because of the expense involved in making the dye. It's no more than a coincidence, but I think it's funny that royalty is identified with a color which is essentially a product of your brain being confused.
