More semester updates

If I were to have done a book cover for Siddartha by Herman Hesse it would have been like this.

The story of Daphne and Apollo.
If you don't already know it here is the Wikipedia synopsis

Still Alive

The Semester is back on.
The following is my homework for a class called "The Golden Section" taught by the geometer Mark Reynolds.
The assignment was to make a design based off of any polygon. I choose the enneagon (9 sides) and unfortunately had to do it twice because I did the fist one digitally and he wanted us to use traditional media.

Kazu was always saying in his figure painting class that he really likes acrylic because it is soo fast compared to oil paint.
To illustrate this point to me he said, "What if the Pope dies over the weekend and I'm a different person now? With acrylic I can make a painting about that the same weekend."
More than likely I'll be working out the more masterful aspects of this sentiment throughout my career as a painter,
however I was compelled to make this painting this morning (in acrylic of course) and share it.

Kazu's Class

Most of the classwork was experimental, but a few ended up being reasonably finalized images.

I got a slow start to the semester, so working on drawing everything in the house to get back into the groove of things.

Every week for Figure Painting we have to finish whatever we started in class.
This is what I came up with for Week 2

whilst swept away

I went on a real vacation. Real meaning not just an empty schedule, or back home for some family event, or a quick weekend gettaway. The wife and I went to the Florida Keys for a little over a week and took tons of photos. Here are the studies i did these last few days.

I took a landscape painting class last semester. We did lots of studies on location and from photos and these are the fruits (homeworks) that were most labored over.

missed a coupla months

Wow time flies, my apologies to my loyal followers. Life happened after finals and swept me away from my computer. But don't worry that doesn't mean art didn't happen in the mean time.

The final project for that perspective class was to design and deliver a world through illustrations of characters and environments. Which was presented in depth in person on the last day of class.
It's a lengthy explanation and involves a bunch of ideas that I'd rather not publish on line, but here are some illustrations from the project anyway.
